Waterworks Museum Receives Festivals and Projects Grant from Mass Cultural Council

We are thrilled to announce that the Waterworks Museum has been selected as one of 740 organizations across the commonwealth to receive the Mass Cultural Council’s Festival and Projects Grant this year for our big annual community event, Waterfest.

This grant signifies that the Waterworks provides significant public value through its programs and services. Waterfest celebrates water and water heroes, raising awareness about a wide array of water issues as well as the people and methods combating them. While this generous $2500 grant was awarded to retroactively cover the costs of our very successful 2022 event, which provided fun, educational activities for over 200 visitors, it will allow us to allot additional internal funds to cover this year’s Waterfest event. We are excited to announce that we will be holding Waterfest again this year on Saturday, July 29th, 2023! Keep an eye on our event calendar and socials for the latest updates.

Mass Cultural Council has a budget of $15.7 million, including an appropriation of nearly $14 million from the state of Massachusetts and grants from the National Endowment for the Arts and other sources. The agency also runs the Mass Cultural Facilities Fund in partnership with MassDevelopment.

Mass Cultural Council funds reach every community in the Commonwealth. Its mission is to promote excellence, education, access and diversity in the arts, humanities and sciences, to improve the quality of life for all Massachusetts residents and contribute to the vitality of our communities and economy.
