A Walk Around the Chestnut Hill Reservoir

January 1, 2024 — June 30, 2024

We are excited to announce the arrival of a new temporary exhibit, “A Walk Around the Chestnut Hill Reservoir,” which will be on display in our Overlook Gallery from now through the Spring of 2024. The exhibition will include a sneak peek at a series of wayside displays intended to be placed along the walking path around the Chestnut Hill Reservoir. These panels were created through a partnership between the Massachusetts Water Resources Authority (MWRA), the Massachusetts Department of Conservation and Recreation (DCR) and the Metropolitan Waterworks Museum.

Through the years, the Chestnut Hill reservoir has been a touchstone for the local community, a place where beauty, natural resources, health and recreation can combine. We have added some historic photos and images of the reservoir over time to the exhibit and we would also like to encourage you to add your own memories and images to the designated Memory Wall to help create a richer and fuller picture of the Chestnut Hill Reservoir through the years. Visit https://forms.gle/NFa7GAQFMzuvxH4NA to submit your picture and we’ll post it on our Reservoir Memory Wall. We’ll also share some of our favorites on social media, so make sure to follow us for the chance to see your photo in the spotlight.

About the Overlook Gallery:

With a stunning view of the Great Engine Hall through a wall of glass, the Overlook Gallery serves as a conference room and a place for large temporary exhibits. This room also allows for close examination of the exquisite detail on the Leavitt-Reidler pumping engine, a National Mechanical Engineering Landmark.
