Welcome to the Water System! (ages 7–12)

July 7, 2020

Join the Metropolitan Waterworks Museum’s education staff to learn about all of the different parts of the Water System! Make a model Watershed to learn about how polluted runoff can affect our drinking water, take a virtual tour of the museum’s Great Engine’s Hall to learn how water is moved across great distances, and finish off by making your own “map” of a Water System.

This is an online class that is hosted on the Zoom platform. Upon booking, you will receive a link to access the class via email. Simply click on the link when it’s time for your class. Please download Zoom prior to the start of the class.

For the model watershed activity, participants will need two white sheets of paper, a red, blue, green, and brown washable marker, a bowl or spray bottle full of water, and a towel or tray to do the activity over to prevent a mess.

For the Water System Map, participants will need scissors, a glue stick (or glue bottle), tape, paper, crayons, and if available, a brass fastener or ‘brad’ (if unavailable, you will be given instructions on how to make an alternate fastener in the class). You will also need print outs of the Water Cycle and Waterworks sheets that will be sent to you.
