Evaporate: Performance Art from Boston and Bergen

Evaporate is an aqueous-themed performance art festival inspired by the exhibition and the unique history and architecture of the Waterworks Museum, featuring artists from Performance Art Bergen in Norway and Boston’s own Mobius Artist Group. Organized by Mobius member Heather Kapplow, the performances will activate the museums’ exhibition halls, grounds, and the nearby reservoir, flowing through these spaces in a quick rush, as the city’s water once flowed through these same spaces, and then dissipating just as quickly. Participating artists from Performance Art Bergen: Anette Friedrich Johannessen, Kurt Johannessen, Jan Egil Finne, Nayara Leite, Mia Øquist, Pavana Reid, and Bjørn Ven.

Great Engines Hall
The centerpiece of the Waterworks Museum is its collection of steam engines. Three original coal-powered, steam-driven water pumps are preserved at the Museum and are monuments to 19th century technology and innovation. Leavitt, Worthington, and Allis stand in the Great Engines Hall and reach more than 3 stories tall. Walk around each and see the multitude of perfectly engineered parts that pumped million gallons of freshwater a day into the City of Boston.
