10th Birthday Party Admission — 12:30 pm
March 27, 2021
12:30 pm–1:30 pm
Join us at the museum to celebrate our 10th birthday with a variety of fun activities and tours for kids and adults alike!
Visitors who reserve their Free admission to our official “Birthday Party” can enjoy:
– Individually wrapped Birthday Cupcakes and a Safe, Socially-distanced area to enjoy them.
– The return of our Wrench Cart! Due to the impacts of Covid-19, the museum has had to shelve a number of fun hands-on interactives like our wrench cart, where visitors can safely handle some of our massive wrenches. For our birthday celebration however, we will have Staff out on the floor sanitizing the wrenches between each user.
– Waterworks Museum Birthday Card Coloring Pages
– Visitors who choose to take a guided tour will have the opportunity to venture down to the basement and see the Allis Engine Pumps, a perk normally reserved for Special Access Tour participants. All guided tours will be limited to 10 participants.
– Reminisce with us and write your impressions and memories of the museum on our communal Memory Board.
– Preview our “Save the City” computer game! This game will be accompanying our long-waited “Fire and Water” exhibit about the Great Fire of Boston (Coming Soon). Visitors will have a chance to try the prototype of the game and provide feedback for improving the exhibit’s final version.
Please remember that face coverings are still required for the entire duration of your visit (regardless of vaccination status) and care will be taken to enforce physical distancing.

Moving Water: From Ancient Innovations to Modern Challenges
Ancient civilizations engineered water systems that sustained communities for thousands of years. This exhibition spotlights six places that innovated ways to deliver, and control water for human use. It also looks at how climate change is impacting all of those places, forcing public officials to consider new ways to keep the water flowing.
