Summer Science Series – Pumps and Rockets: Engineering with Pressure
July 13, 2022
1:30 pm–2:30 pm
Join Waterworks Museum Staff live at the museum for a fun look at how pumps and rockets are both engineered to use pressure. We’ll be taking a look at some of the science behind how pressure was used in the Waterworks’ steam engines and how pressure is used in Rocket Ships today. Then, we’ll be making Balloon Rockets and paper rocket launchers and comparing how pressure is used in each case. This program is recommended for ages 7-12 and is free of charge, suggested donation $5. Face coverings are recommended but not required. Help us plan by reserving your free tickets in advance.

Moving Water: From Ancient Innovations to Modern Challenges
Ancient civilizations engineered water systems that sustained communities for thousands of years. This exhibition spotlights six places that innovated ways to deliver, and control water for human use. It also looks at how climate change is impacting all of those places, forcing public officials to consider new ways to keep the water flowing.
