February 26, 2022
10:00 am–3:00 pm
***DATE CHANGE AS OF 2/24/2022: THIS EVENT WILL NOW BE ON SATURDAY 2/26*****
Drop in any time between 10am and 2pm on 2/26! We’ll be taking a closer look the science behind how pressure was used in the Waterworks’ steam engines and how pressure is used in Rocket Ships. We’ll be using air pressure to make our own balloon rockets and soda bottle rockets in two totally different ways! Stick around for our 15-minute show “It’s not Rocket Science! Or is it?” at 12:00pm where we break down how the way Rockets use pressure is similar and different to the way our pumps used pressure.
This event is recommended for ages 5-13 and is free of charge, suggested donation $5. Help us monitor capacity by reserving your free tickets online in advance. If you can no longer attend for any reason, simply cancel your order online to free up your spot for someone else. Please note that all attendees over 2 years of age must wear a face covering over their nose and mouth for the duration of their visit.
*As a precaution due to Covid-19, we will be using hand pumps to blow up our balloons.

Ancient civilizations engineered water systems that sustained communities for thousands of years. This exhibition spotlights six places that innovated ways to deliver, and control water for human use. It also looks at how climate change is impacting all of those places, forcing public officials to consider new ways to keep the water flowing.
