“Damrell’s Fire” Film Screening

As a complement to our latest temporary exhibition “Fire and Water: An Exploration of the Great Fire of Boston,” we are delighted to be hosting a screening of “Damrell’s Fire” followed by a Q&A with the film’s Writer, Director, and Producer Bruce Twickler.

“Damrell’s Fire” is a groundbreaking documentary about the man who fought to eliminate the conflagrations that destroyed America’s cities in the 19th century. Offering breath-taking animations that recreate the battle against Boston’s Great fire, rare archival films, and interviews with urban historians, “Damrell’s Fire” is an educational and entertaining look at a crucial chapter in America’s “coming of age” story.

This program will take place live at the museum and is free of charge, though donations are welcomed. Doors open at 10am. Masks are currently required for all museum visitors over 2 years of age regardless of vaccination status. Reserve your free ticket in advance to secure your place. If seats are still available, Walk-ins will be welcome on the day of the program.
