The Waterworks Museum has an exciting opportunity this July to further its educational mission by partnering with The Museum Institute for Teaching Science (MITS) for their 2013 Summer Institutes. The theme this year is "Educational Crossroads: Science, Technology and Engineering Meet Literacy and Social Science." The courses provide upper elementary, middle and high school educators with professional development to expand scientific knowledge and classroom investigations and to create cross-disciplinary synergy in the theme areas. The Museum will host the course "Science Solutions: Using Design Education to Investigate Animal and Human Needs." In addition to the Waterworks Museum, Zoo New England and Learning by Design are partners in the course, which will run from July 8 through July 12. For information on participating in the MITS Summer Institutes, contact Tim LaValee, Associate Program Director, This e-mail address is being protected from spambots.
